Why this Summit?

And what is the number one cause of insulin resistance? The over consumption of refined carbohydrates (processed foods). Breads, pastas, cereals, grains, packaged foods. All the stuff that has exploded in our diets over the past 40 years. And what has exploded along with it? Type 2 diabetes. Fatty liver. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Cancer. Dementia. Auto immune conditions. Obesity. Depression. Anxiety.

When we feed an animal a diet that it is not evolved to eat, it gets sick. This is what is happening to the human population.

Claire McDonnell: Family Nutrition & Processed Foods. Claire is a Naturopathic Nutrition Advisor and Co-founder of, a family nutrition non-profit organisation. Today she is going to share why it's so important to get processed foods out of the families diet. 

Danielle Hamilton: The Spectrum of Diabetes and Insulin Resistance. Danielle is a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner with a passion for helping women reverse PCOS & insulin resistance.

Dr Avi Charlton: Journey of a Low Carb GP. Avi is a also the resident GP in Low Carb Melbourne.

Kelly Hodges: Type 2 Diabetes Remission. Kelly is an Accredited Practicing Dietitian. Her talk today is going to show us how it is possible to put T2D in to remission.

Jessica Turton & the Ellipse Health Team (Thomas Paavola, Niki Mohtat, Megan Hasick & Kiran Dhaliwal): Fertility, Middle Age Weight Loss, Chronic Pain & Autoimmune. All are Accrediting Practising Dietitians.

Dr Lucy Burns: Do You Keep Falling Off the Wagon? Dr Lucy is a GP & Lifestyle Medicine Physician. She is one of the most inspiring people I know and passionate about helping people with lifestyle change. Lucy has muscular dystrophy which impairs her mobility, but does not dampen her passion and enthusiasm for helping others. She is also part of the Real Life Medicine team with Dr Mary Barson.

Brodie Cambourne: Keeping & Staying Brain Fit.  Brodie is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist who has been working in the area of brain development and brain health for over 25 years. During this time she has worked with babies through to 100 year old clients. She is going to share her knowledge on keeping our brains fit, and how it's never too late to do so.

Dr Alex Petrushevski: Red meat and cancer: an update. Alex is one of the directors of Sydney Low Carb Specialists.

Susan Birch: From Overweight & Overwhelmed to Healthy & In Control. Susan is a Functional Medicine Practitioner who specialises in nutrition and exercise. She is known in NZ as the Health Detective, and is passionate about improving the health of New Zealanders.

She's an awesome lady who encourages everyone to just be real and show up as you are.
